Trivia

Did you know the following about Dark Angel?

- The often-referenced S1W's are a likely reference to the S1W's of rap group Public Enemy. Public Enemy's front man 'Chuck D.' helped write the main theme music for the show.

- While filming the second-season finale, guest star Amy Dumas broke her neck when a stuntwoman did not hold her properly while she was doing a "Litacanrana" causing her to land on her head.

- James Cameron's birthday can be found as the license plate number of Max's motorcycle.

- Max is X5-452; Tinga is X5-656; Brin is X5-734; Ben is X5-493

- Brin's (one of the X5 escapees) Barcode is 331280315734.

- Max's twin, Sam, is X5-453.

- All of the escaped X5's can be seen wearing black leather jackets when mingling with the public.

- Alec, Ben's twin, is X5-494.

- Season 1 begins and ends the same: "Sometimes it seems like it happened to someone else, like maybe it was a story I heard. Even though I know it happened." Max says it atop the Space Needle in the Pilot and Logan says it atop the Space Needle in the season finale.

- Although both seasons are listed as only having 21 episodes, they each have 22 episodes when re-aired. The first season has 21, but the pilot is approximately eighty-five minutes (twice the length of other episodes). The second season (and series) finale, "Freak Nation," is an hour and a half, which splits the episode during re-airings.

- Logan's birthday is 11 November 1988.

- Normal's given name is Reagan Ronald. Original Cindy's given name is Cynthia McEachon.

- Sketchy's name, Calvin Simon Theodore, is a nod to the Chipmunks - Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.

- The character 'Max Guevara' was ranked #17 in TV Guide's list of the "25 Greatest Sci-Fi Legends" (1 August 2004 issue).

At the end of the series finale, "Freak Nation", the shot of the transgenics raising their flag mimics the American flag being raised by US Marines on Iwo Jima.

- The show was canceled on a cliffhanger.

- Max's Phone number, clearly heard near the beginning of the episode "Harbor Lights" when dialed by Logan, are the first 9 notes of the theme song to "The Wheel of Fortune".

- Jensen Ackles got the part of Alec, after playing Ben in Season 1, with no audition for the character of Alec. The producers had no idea at that point if he could play a comedic character when he was cast.

- In the various Dark Angel novels, the three remaining '09 escapees (of which there were twelve), were named to be Vada, Kavi, and Seth. All three of them were killed off in the years before Max joined up with Logan Cale. Vada was hunted by Col. Donald Lydecker and shot down in the desert. Kavi blew his cover playing baseball and threw the ball far more accurately than a normal human would, right in front of a Manticore official. He was subsequently captured and/or killed by Manticore. Seth had been working as an Eyes Only operative and just days before the start of the series, he ran into Max on the Space Needle and fell to his death to give Max a chance to escape from Manticore officials who were after them. The three transgenics were never named in the series, nor are they considered canon as per the fact that while Lydecker was in his office he would always have twelve pictures of the escapees on the wall and only took pictures down after Brin and later Ben were captured/killed.
